Aikido
Shodokan Aikido is the style of Aikido founded by Kenji Tomiki
Shodokan Aikido is sometimes referred to as 合気道競技 which translates to “Competitive Aikido” or “Sport Aikido” because of its use of regular competitions. Shodokan places a higher emphasis on free form randori sparring more than most other styles of aikido. Aikido translates to “the way of harmonious spirit”. There are 3 stages to effective Aikido i.e. Avoid, break balance and apply throw or lock. In Japanese it is Tai Sabaki, Tsukuri and Waza or Kake.
